It's true. We make statements and claims that don't necessarily agree with traditional fertilization practices and principles. And we have good reason...it works.

Here's this issue's example:

Are you giving your Kikuyugrass mixed signals?

Successfully maintaining Kikuyugrass typically comes down to trying to achieve a balance between color and growth.

By neccesity we must apply fertilizer to provide satisfactory color but this typically results in excessive growth which leads to constant scalping and an abundance of clippings.

To counteract the negative effects of fertilizing many managers also apply Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs), such as Primo, to slow growth and reduce scalping and clippings.

In effect we are telling the plant two different things.  We're telling it to grow
by fertilizing it and then telling it not to grow by using (PGRs).

JTM Nutrients has developed a granular product specifically for use on Kikuyugrass called Activator Fe/Mn.  It is formulated to improve color without  stimulating excessive growth whether or not PGRs are also being used.
